Job Responsibilities:
- Perform daily backup and restore operations to ensure data integrity and availability across IBM i systems
- Monitor system performance, health, and security by analyzing alerts and logs to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Apply system patches, security updates, and hardening activities to maintain a secure and compliant environment.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts or task schedulers to optimize routine system operations, including DB2 database maintenance tasks.
- Support application deployment and release management, including WebSphere components, ensuring smooth delivery and version control.
- Provide technical support and expertise for IT projects, application upgrades, and deployments
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, processes, and configurations
- Train, guide, and mentor junior staff, fostering knowledge sharing within the team
- Stay informed about IBM i advancements and recommend upgrades or enhancements.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Core System administration
- Proficiency in IBM i systems: Understanding of CL (Control Language), RPG programming, SQL, LPAR (Logical Partitioning) management, and PTF (Program Temporary Fix) deployment
- Experience with DB2: Knowledge of DB2 database management on IBM i, including query optimization, backup/restore operations, and performance tuning.
- System Monitoring Tools: Familiar with BRMS (Backup, Recovery, and Media Services), system monitoring, and job scheduling tools
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication, teamwork, and leadership capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under pressure
